What a container assignment stores

In Firefox, a container assignment stores protection settings and can select a Regional Preset.

It can work without its own preset. Each assignment keeps its own set of fingerprint-related values.

Preset inheritance

A container assignment without its own preset can use the preset from the Default Rule.

Inheritance applies to location, language, and time zone. The container keeps its own protection settings and identity.

Priority

A matching Trusted Site turns Privacy Thing off before rules and containers are considered.

A matching Domain Rule takes priority over a container assignment.

When no Domain Rule matches, an enabled assignment for the active container takes control. The Default Rule handles sites without either source and can provide the container's inherited preset.

Configure a container

1. Open the Privacy Thing settings in Firefox.
2. Go to Firefox Containers.
3. Select a container.
4. Optionally select a Regional Preset.
5. Set the protection options you need.
6. Save the changes.
7. Open or reload a site in that container.

No containers in Chrome

Privacy Thing supports these assignments only in Firefox. The Chrome version does not show Firefox Containers settings.
