Import and export configuration
Save configuration to a file and move it between installations.
Export configuration
Export downloads a JSON backup of the current Privacy Thing configuration.
The backup includes Regional Presets, Domain Rules, Trusted Sites, the Default Rule, preferences, and consent choices. In Firefox, it also includes container assignments.
The file can contain host patterns and location values. Store it as private configuration data.
What the backup does not contain
The backup does not contain the global on or off state of Privacy Thing.
It also excludes X-Ray activity and current debug logs.
Import configuration
Import replaces the corresponding local configuration with data from the selected backup.
Check the source of the file before importing it. Export your current configuration first if you may need it later.
Check the result
After importing, check Regional Presets, Domain Rules, the Default Rule, and Trusted Sites.
In Firefox, also check container assignments.
The global on or off state of the extension remains unchanged.
No automatic synchronization
Privacy Thing does not upload configuration backups to its own server; exports and imports occur only when you start them.
